Everyone’s for tennis at Postmark and Medici Gallery
If you’re game on for tennis it’s the start of the best three weeks of the year as Wimbledon, the oldest tennis tournament in the world, has just started.
Foregoing the traditional strawberries and cream two greeting card retailers have gone all out to celebrate the annual tennis championship, as Postmark and Medici Gallery have come up with game set and match-themed Wimbledon windows incorporating plenty of new balls.
Above & top: Medici Gallery has totally nailed the tennis theme with a detailed display which works for Wimbledon as well as Queen’s Club in nearby West Kensington
Founded in 1877, the Wimbledon Championships traditionally start earlier in June but, for 2023, the tournament began on Monday, 26 June, and runs through to 16 July, having been pushed back a week to allow players to allow players to adjust from clay to the grass playing surface and leave more time between it and other major sporting events.
This year’s top seeds are Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic at one and two respectively in the men’s singles, with Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka in the ladies’ championships.
British favourite and former Wimbledon champ Andy Murray isn’t seeded because he lost in the first round at nearby rivals Queen’s – which only dates back to 1890 – last week.
