Two new designers added to stable of Wraptious artists
Olivia Hicks and Ninola Design (by Laura Estelles) are the two winners of the 2017 Wraptious design competition. Artists had to submit three designs, suitable to use on a cushion. There were over 700 entries – the biggest response yet. The winners were decided by public vote, and by 60 industry judges, a mixture of high street buyers, leading magazine editors, past competition winners and design lecturers.
Simon Wadsworth, founder of Wraptious said: “We have been blown away by the quality of entries, and it was very challenging coming up with a shortlist. We love Olivia’s beautifully drawn animal designs, and Ninola Design’s quirky cactus patterns felt really fresh and summery. We always have a great selection of animal themed designs submitted to our competition, but this year we also saw some lovely mixed-media pieces this year; particularly in the work of Kate Findlay and Claire Picard, who were our two runners up.”
The winners have their work added to the Wraptious website and get their own spot on its stand at Harrogate Home & Gift in July. The winning artists will also have their work promoted by Wraptious for two years.
Olivia Hicks said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to win. I can’t quite believe my paintings have been so well received, and feel the incentive to pick up my paintbrush now more than ever. I can’t wait to see what the future with Wraptious will hold.”
Laura Estelles said: “I’m really excited to have won. I have been following Wraptious for years and I admire their artists, and now I’m one of their artists! They will be sharing my artwork on a new range of design products over the next two years. It’s an honour and it’s a great way to make my artwork more visible.”
Wraptious will be releasing Olivia’s work on cushions, mugs, coasters and cards. Ninola Design’s will be released on cushions, cards, and a new range of notebooks.
