Widdop x Say It With Songs

Gift company takes over music-linked greeting card distribution

Gifting company Widdop And Co is hitting the high notes as next week’s PG Live show will christen its distribution deal for Say It With Songs greeting card collection as well as showcasing its licensed gift range with the brand.

Lauded as the first greeting card range that combines the sentiment of the card with the power of an instantly-available song, Widdop has revealed it is taking over full distribution of Say It With Songs founder Ellie Fitzgerald’s designs as well as expanding the brand into Greatest Hits gift collections, a move announced earlier in the year.

“We couldn’t be more excited to have this unique and innovative brand in our range,” Widdop And Co ceo Stephen Illingworth said. “Ellie has created something exceptional with Say It With Songs.

Having sought to develop a collection of greeting cards for a long time, it’s exciting to start our greeting card journey with this brilliant and unique range.

“Cards remain the most popular gift and we look forward to bringing our fantastic service to this wonderful sector to complete the full gift and greeting card story with Say It With Songs.”

Former music manager Ellie, who dreamed up the concept during lockdown to connect people through music, will stay at the creative helm for the collaboration and continue to develop the range to continue “bringing the dance floor to shop floors”.

She added: “Everyone has a song that takes them back to a time, person, or moment in seconds and this is exactly why Say It With Songs was created.

“The range has grown extensively over the last four years making it a firm favourite in both large and independent retailers. A conscious business created from the desire to make people feel special, as a new modern way of cheering people up and expressing emotions through heartfelt words and music.”

And this is just the start of the collaboration, with Ellie and export maestro Paul Fields working with the Widdop team on a host of follow-up greeting card launches and product concepts.

The cards use everyday streamable technology to allow the recipient to hold their smartphone camera over the qr code incorporated into the design and the song streams immediately through Spotify, YouTube or Amazon Music – it’s explained in the video below.

Stephen explained existing Say It With Songs customers will all be set up with a Widdop account if they don’t already have one and take priority for the brand in their locality, if possible.
