The good news from jubilant publishers travels fast
“Hands down, this is the BEST news ever!!!! Hooray! I’m absolutely buzzing!” exclaimed Arnelle Woker, founder of the eponymous company and one of the many very happy publishers and young designers who haven’t wasted a minute in spreading the wonderful news about making it to the finals of this year’s Henries greeting card industry awards, announced by PG Buzz a couple of days ago.

Arnelle’s EveryBODY range is a finalist in The Henries’ Best Diversity & Inclusion category. “I designed the EveryBODY range to celebrate the gorgeous beauty of female diversity. There’s room for every woman to see herself, her friends and the strong women in her life at the heart of these designs. A huge thank you to the whole judging panel for making this all possible and congratulations to my fellow nominees,” added Arnelle, who can be seen in the video below.

Another publisher who is delighted to have shone through to make it into the finals in the Best Diversity & Inclusion category is Helen Barker, founder of Cake And Crayons. “I’m over the moon to have made it to the finals of The Henries! I only started my business last September and I’m so proud to have come such a long way. It’s been a very personal journey too as Cake And Crayons was inspired by my daughter. Most of all I’m thrilled that my cards are being recognised in the Diversity & Inclusion category as I developed Bright to celebrate disability, gender roles, race and culture. It’s my mission to make fun, colourful cards that are truly inclusive and go out to a wide range of people – especially children. It means so much to me to see these cards shining bright!”

Fellow newbies and Heyyy Cards co-owners Dan and Yvette Clarkson are equally buoyed up by the good news they’re in The Henries’ finals. “We can’t quite believe that our cards have made it into the finals in what is our very first year of trading. We’re both extremely humbled and mega excited in equal measure!!! The standard of entries this year was really high and we feel privileged to have our Tiny & Terrific range chosen among the work of so many amazing publishers.”

Mother and daughter duo Gill Herbert and Emma West, co-owners of Pangofandango, were lapping up the rays in Lanzarote when they discovered the company’s Woodland Numbers has made it into the finals in the Best Handmade Or Hand-finished Range category.
“Oh my goodness, wow! What incredible news – this has just made it the best holiday ever! We can’t wait for the big night!” Gill and Emma told PG Buzz.
Staying in the holiday bubble, so delighted was David Nichols-Rice that his Ricicle Cards’ Cosy Christmas has clinched a place in the finalists’ line-up of the Best Christmas Counter Card category that the publisher’s founder’s first call was to Virgin Atlantic to change his flight by a day so he can get back early from his planned US vacation to attend the awards’ event on October 6
“I am so completely over the moon – I barely slept last night due to the excitement and shock, haha!” David revealed, click below to share his delight…
The joy of reaching the finals isn’t confined to newer publishers as that positivity was equally strong among more the established companies.
‘We’re all over the moon to hear we’ve reached the finals with three entries for The Henries 20022!!!’ Yippppeee!!!!” celebrated the studio team at Simon Elvin, and four-legged helper Flynn joined in with a delighted woof.
Paper Salad’s co-founders Karen Wilson and Claire Williams are understandably overjoyed with their seven finalist places, which includes their collaborative creations.
“Wow, we’re absolutely blown away with being finalists for seven Henries award nominations!” Karen and Claire told PG Buzz. “We’re incredibly proud of what we have produced in this last year which includes our fabulous new trifold range – Are We Nearly There Yet? Likewise, our collaborations with Emotional Rescue and Glick have been so successful that two of our nominations are with those great companies. On behalf of our fantastic team, we’d like to thank everyone who has voted for us. We look forward to seeing you all at The Henries in October!”
With the Best Service To The Independent Retailer finalists to be announced next week, all winners of The Henries 2022 will be announced at the industry’s big night, a lavish awards event, taking place at London’s Royal Lancaster Hotel on Thursday, 6 October, 2022.
