There is to be a new New York-based greeting card trade show next May, owned by the US Greeting Card Association.
The news comes as a reaction to the announcement that the current New York National Stationery Show (NSS) that is owned by Emerald Expositions is to co-locate with New York Now Gift Show (also owned by Emerald) in the Javits Center during the February 2019 show. (Surtex, the art and design licensing show, which has historically run alongside the NSS is also co-locating with New York Now).
In an official announcement to members of the US GCA, sent by its current president Christy Kaprosy, explained how the US GCA Executive Committee had voted unanimously to develop and manage a dedicated greeting card trade show for the US market.
The new show, as yet un-named is to take place May 18-20 in the Brooklyn Expo Center, in trendy Brooklyn and will comprise around 140 stands.
With echoes of London’s PG Live, the costs of exhibiting at the new show will be ‘all in’ including lunch and drinks.
“The result will be a truly new show, designed to capture all the excitement that our industry can bring,” promises president Christy Kaprosy.
US GCA members are being invited to pitch in with ideas to christen the new show.
