Having been a significant global player for 25 years (supplying many publishers with their designs), Taylor-Made Studios (better known as TMS) is marking its special anniversary by launching a new strand to its business in House of Stationery and taking on representing Carte Blanche Group’s Hotchpotch portfolio in Europe.
In addition, this ‘under the radar’ publishing powerhouse (which has created 1,000 card designs for 2019) is to exhibit at Spring Fair as well as Paperworld.
Over £80 million worth of TMS’ greeting card designs are sold every year in retailers all over the world (under different publishers’ brand names) many of which have been produced in its ‘all singing all dancing’ production facility in the Far East.
Now, as from the start of 2019, the Dutch-based company is adding another string to its bow, making the foray into design-led stationery, under The House of Stationery brand.
“Everything has to start with the design, the right design for the territory. For this reason we have built up a vast team of designers from all over the world, some of whom work in our in-house studio but many more are off site. This way we know that we can offer designs that reflect the aesthetic cultures of anywhere in the world,” assures Ron Schumann who founded the company 25 years ago. This year Ron is planning to hand the day to day running of the business to his son Vincent, who has worked alongside him for the last 20 years, and is currently the company’s sales director.
Explaining the rationale behind TMS’ expansion on the stationery front, under its new House of Stationery brand, Vincent said: “There is a real hype at the moment about stationery. It seems the more we use our phones, the more we appreciate tangible paper products, like greeting cards and stationery. This is surely good news!”
The resultant collection includes various formats of notebooks, planners, memo box, card wallets and sticky notes, available in a number of collections (including three designs licensed from Paper Salad), but its publisher customers will also have the option of featuring their own designs on the products.
