Artistic duo takes quirky animals in shirts on to homewares range
Getting your designs to a wider audience through licensing is working for Tipperleyhill duo Roz Berkeley-Hill and Abi TIppetts as they have expanded their reach to work with Lifetime Brands on a Mikasa homewares collaboration.
Having already set up a greeting card expansion through the Tipp Top range of quirky cards featuring animals in fancy shirts published under licence by Rosie Made A Thing at PG Live, this Tipperleyhill brand of cuteness is now adorning the range from dinnerware supplier Mikasa at Lifetime Brands.
Now based in Leicester, Abi and Roz are trained artists and best friends who create every piece together, from bold florals and abstracts to landscapes and humorous animal prints, having first met while working at a textile design studio in New York.
“They’re all designed to put a smile on your face and lift your spirits,” the pair said, with the artistic match made in heaven as Abi – who doesn’t like colouring in – paints the animals and not-a-fan-of-drawing Roz adds the colourful patterns to their shirts.
Mikasa has extended this successful gifting collaboration beyond mugs and hydration bottles, with the collection now including key tableware pieces such as side plates, cups and saucers, serving trays, cushioned lap tray, jugs, coasters and placemats, and they come complete with dropship-ready sustainable gift box packaging.
Under the Tipperleyhill brand, Abi and Roz publish their own cards, original art, pet portraits and prints as well as running classes and workshops where the goal is to have a good time and feel uplifted by the experience of painting.
They added: “In our studio, there’s no space to take ourselves too seriously. The happy energy that emanates from us as we work is reflected in our paintings’ bold patterns and bright colours, drawing inspiration from the things we love, especially flowers and animals.
“We both work on each painting and illustration we produce, moving from piece to piece on multiple canvases simultaneously. We create this way to put smiles on people’s faces, knowing that if we love something, others will too, and this is what keeps us going.
“There’s no greater feeling than looking at a blank canvas and knowing by the end of the day, it will have transformed into something extraordinary.”
