The Retas 2022 Winners Revealed

The UK’s very best greeting card retailers were officially recognised at The Retas 2022 greeting card retailer awards ceremony, which took place today (7 July) at The Grosvenor House Hotel in London’s Mayfair.

The Retas 2022 saw greeting card retail stockists from right across the retail spectrum recognised, rewarded and celebrated.

Among the many jubilant winners was House of Cards, with the Home Counties-based retailer not only winning the Best Greeting Card Small Multiple award, but also being presented with the final award of the ceremony, the prestigious Greeting Card Retailer of the Year award.

The ever-popular event, which this year was on a Mary Poppins theme, was hosted by comedian Sara Barron and attended by some 300 greeting card retailers, publishers and suppliers.

Welcoming guests, PG’s co-owner Jakki Brown paid tribute to The Retas finalists and winners, saying: “Echoing today’s theme, we all know the song lyrics “A spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down” which is a very apt metaphor for us here today. With all the doom and gloom around, the cost-of-living crisis, ongoing war in Ukraine, political turmoil and supply chain disruption, we all need something sweet to take the edge of these modern day challenges.

Greeting card retailers provide a welcome antidote to all this bad stuff with their bursting racks of colour and sentiment to lift the spirits of the nation’s greeting card shoppers.”

Enjoying a strong roster of sponsors, all leading companies, who are all committed to rewarding retailing expertise, The Retas 2022 was backed by: Abacus Cards, The Art File, Belly Button Designs, Carte Blanche Greetings, Cath Tate Cards, Danilo, Glick, Hallmark, Ohh Deer, Ling Design,  Meraki, Museums & Galleries, Nigel Quiney Publications, Paperlink, Pigment Productions, Progressive Greetings Live, Second Nature, Sensations/Express Yourself, Spring Fair/Autumn Fair, UK Greetings, W Select and Woodmansterne Publications.
