The waiting is over…the greeting card and giftwrappings ranges that have made it into the official shortlist for The Henries 2022 greeting card awards have been announced today (July 13).
A judging panel comprising over 60 retail buyers (from specialist multiples, supermarkets, garden centres, small groups and leading indies) had their work cut out scrutinising the thousands of entries that were submitted for the online judging from over 280 different greeting card publishers to arrive at the shortlist.
For the first time this year, there is a two-stage judging process for The Henries. The first (now completed) took place entirely online to arrive at the shortlist. There are 15 shortlisted ranges in the vast majority of the product categories. These shortlisted ranges will then feature at a physical judging event (being held on August 2) with a judging panel, again comprising entirely of retail buyers, considering the actual greeting cards and giftwrappings and casting their votes to arrive at the finalists and winners for The Henries 2022.
“Publishers’ engagement with The Henries is at an unprecedented level this year. Never before have we seen submissions from as many different companies, from established leading brands to brand new start-ups, collectively showcasing our industry’s incredible creative prowess,” commented Jakki Brown, managing director of Max Publishing, which owns and organises The Henries. “With such a strong and varied shortlist, from 108 different publishers, it’s now all systems go for the physical judging day to arrive at the finalists,” she added.

The Lynn Tait Most Promising Young Designer or Artist
No shortlisted contenders will be announced for this award. Entrants are being invited to submit mounted boards of their work to be judged at the live judging day. Entries to this award should be sent to Jakki Brown, Max Publishing, The Henries, United House, North Road, London N7 9DP. The deadline for this category only is Wednesday 27 July.
Best Service to the Independent Retailer
No shortlisted contenders will be announced for this award. The finalists will be arrived at as a result of a votes cast by independent retailers via an extensive survey involving 1,250 retailers.
Honorary Achievement Award
No shortlist or finalists are announced for this award. The recipient will be revealed at The Henries awards event.
All winners of The Henries 2022 will be announced at a lavish awards event, the industry’s big night.
Taking place at The Royal Lancaster Hotel in London on Thursday, 6 October 2022, The Henries 2022 awards event will be jumpin’, especially as it will take on an up-tempo 1950s theme this year!
