Tesco’s Mother’s Day greeting card support this year is set to bring rewards to worthy causes (through a Cancer Research UK charity card collection with Hallmark) as well as one lucky shopper who will win £1,000 shopping spree through a competition with Carte Blanche’s Me to You brand.
Tesco is to donate £20,000 to Cancer Research UK and support the charity’s Race for Life initiative, through the sale of a special collection of Mother’s Day cards.
Hallmark has worked with the supermarket to create 16 special Mother’s Day cards, which will not only see much needed funds being donated to the charity to go towards its life-saving research, but also tell the very human stories of those who have been affected by cancer.
On the back of the cards (which are being sold in 400 Tesco stores), eight women, who all work for the supermarket, share how their lives, or the lives of those close to them, have been affected by cancer and inspired them to take part in Race for Life. (Race for Life is a series of events raising money for research into all 200 types of cancer, and is open to everyone, including men, women and children).
Alec Brown, head of community at Tesco, said: “By sharing the stories of these women we hope to support those affected by the disease and also encourage the nation to join the Race for Life which raises vital funds for Cancer Research UK”
As Hallmark’s Laura Washington pointed out “Every two minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer, so we know how important it is to raise both funds and awareness of this disease that affects so many lives.”
This is the second year Hallmark has supported Cancer Research UK with a Mother’s Day card collection exclusive to Tesco, but the range has increased significantly for 2019. “The cards are a huge celebration of all the mums and grandmas across the UK, made even more poignant with the inspirational stories from some wonderful women at Tesco,” adds Laura.
Tesco is celebrating 18 years in partnership with Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life. In that time, Tesco colleagues and customers have raised more than £45 million for Cancer Research UK.
Me to You Teams Up With Tesco
To celebrate Mother’s Day, (that falls this Sunday, March 31), Carte Blanche Greetings’ Me to You brand has partnered with Tesco to offer their customers the opportunity to win a £1000 shopping spree in over 400 of their stores.
“We are really excited to be partnering with Tesco for the second year running on this Mother’s Day activity,” comments marketing manager Grace Elphinstone. “We are delighted that Tesco has recognised the synergy between the Me to You brand and this special occasion, allowing our product portfolio to own the Mother’s Day space in store, offering customers a one stop solution for their Mother’s Day gifting and the ability to shop across categories for the brand they love.”
The competition, which will be hosted online, is to be promoted across all of the Me to You Mother’s Day gifting products and all Mother’s Day cards across the Carte Blanche stable of brands which include Wishing Well Studios and Hotchpotch.
Special PoS has been developed that features on specially designed instore displays which incorporate both Me to You Mother’s Day cards and gifts. Customers can enter the free prize draw by entering the competition URL promoted on the Me to You Mother’s Day products and submitting their details online.
The competition will run until 7 April 7 2019, and the winner will be picked at random.
