Medici Gallery plays part in helping publisher win fashion collaboration
Medici Gallery has been the best Medicine for designer and publisher Jane Tattersfield as the indie retailer’s championing of the brand has led to a fashion tie-up.
And it all came about because of PG Live and the South Kensington store’s proximity to London’s Victoria & Albert Museum!
Shop manager Tim Reynolds has stocked Tattersfield Designs’ cards since discovering them at PG Live in 2018, attracting the eyes of loyal customers as well as those who walk past on their way to and from the major museums nearby.
As Jane revealed: “The project coordinator from Polish fashion brand Medicine spotted my cards in Medici after visiting the V&A.
“They liked my work because it reminded them of folk art with a modern twist, and have created a clothes and accessories collection of 50 products using my images. It’s been very successful and I’ve been told by the company that they’ve been blown away by the sales!
“It was a wonderful collaboration and their designers embraced my love of clashing pattern and colour, taking elements from one image and combining it with another. I couldn’t be more pleased with how they used my illustrations.”
Medicine has over 100 stores in Poland and is growing fast across Eastern Europe, so Jane went out to Krakow for the launch of the collection “which was a wonderful experience”.
Tim fell in love with Jane’s cards at PG Live 2018 and immediately spent the shop’s Golden Ticket with the publisher, saying: “My first impression of her artwork was of how strikingly bold they were, using full-on colours, mostly of animals, birds and flowers. Her cards were instantly recognisable and stood out from the rest.
“It was a clear decision that our Golden Ticket was destined for Tattersfield Designs and, from that beginning, we still regularly re-order and sell Jane’s cards today.”
Jane popped into Medici recently and told them how Medicine’s coordinator had found her cards there last year while on one of their regular trips to London, and her designs are now on one of the bestselling ranges.
“It goes to show, anything might come your way if you’re able to produce something unique and appealing like her cards,” Tim said.
