Donald Trump, Boris Johnson, José Mourinho, Kim Jong-un and Piers Morgan are among the political leaders, statesmen and celebs to have added their voices to the Second Nature sales force as the company gets underway as distributor for Really Wild Cards’ humorous Politically Incorrect sound cards.
The distribution agreement with Really Wild Cards comes a few months after Second Nature took over from Words ‘n’ Wishes as distributor of Quitting Hollywood for the independent channel, an agreement which officially started in May, but is now getting into its stride, click here to read PG Buzz’s story from earlier this year.
Commenting about the Politically Incorrect collaboration, Tim West, sales manager of Second Nature said: “We loved the range, as it is great topical humour with a USP.” Tim started discussing the possibility of a tie-up with John Wignall, owner of Really Wild Cards back in February, but due to lockdown was finalised in May. “There is true merit playing to your strengths and working with experts in different genres. John is the maestro of creating sound cards while Second Nature is well known for its focus on handmade cards, but we have a full sales force with good relationships with retail customers, a talented design studio and manufacturing capabilities. It made total sense for us to join forces and to be able to offer our customers something different.”
The Second Nature national sales team (which comprises 13 sales representatives in the UK and Ireland as well as a couple of sales agents) are now offering 24 designs of Really Wild Cards’ Politically Incorrect designs, which have been dual-branded to include the Second Nature logo on the rear. In addition to birthday designs there are some milestone ages and a large Ant and Dec ‘get me out of here’ leaving card due to join the line-up any day with more to follow.
John Wignall is delighted to have secured the deal with Second Nature.
“It’s fantastic. Their distribution, my talent, what a partnership!” exclaimed John enthusiastically. “Really Wild Cards does have a loyal customer base, but I knew we could achieve more if the range was properly represented by a dedicated sales team,” he added.
Under the new agreement, while the Politically Incorrect range is being distributed by Second Nature, the sales team will also effectively act as agents for Really Wild’s other ranges, such as its sound cards of bird calls, animals and vehicles.
Jay Gadhia, owner of the Forget-me-Not card shop in Eastcote is one of the first retailers to have taken delivery of the Politically Incorrect cards from Second Nature and has been delighted by his customers’ reactions. “We have only had the range in for a few days and have already sold out of the Trump designs, Boris is a close second with the age designs ticking along well too. As soon as Tim West showed me these I felt it was worth a go. It is important to have something new for customers. Diversification is a good thing if done carefully. Second Nature is well known for its ‘must have’ Champagne and Pop-ups ranges. This takes them into a new area with someone who knows what they are doing,” said Jay.
The Really Wild designs join the Second Nature portfolio which now also includes 120 Quitting Hollywood designs (which are exclusive to independent retailers). These include designs under the Twisty, Paw Play brand as well as refreshed QH designs in open birthday and major captions.
“There is so much doom and gloom right now, the Quitting Hollywood and Politically Incorrect cards are certainly helping to bring some smiles back to people’s faces!” believes Tim.
