Retailer and Fujifilm offer thousands of greetings designs at touch of a button
Scribbler is taking print on demand to a whole new level with the roll-out of its first instant greeting card kiosk developed in partnership with photographic print pioneers Fujifilm.
Offering around 1,000 of Scribbler’s bestselling designs from a machine with a footprint of less than one metre square, the greeting card design will be printed instantly on an A5 card.
“We’re hugely excited to be working with Fujifilm, the Rolls-Royce of this technology, as well as our partner designers to launch what is effectively, a Scribbler store in a box,” the retailer’s co-founder John Procter told PG Buzz.
The design selection – which includes cards from Scribbler’s in-house portfolio as well as many other partner publishers and designers – is controlled remotely so can be tailored to the kiosk’s location, enabling the store to reflect geographic relevance as well as the likely customer base.
Scribbler’s innovation has an official launch event scheduled for 19-20 July at the Fujifilm House Of Photography in London’s Covent Garden.
“The beauty of the self-service kiosk is that it lends itself to be sited both within traditional retailers as well as in all manner of other locations, from corporate offices to educational establishments, entertainment venues to travel hubs,” commented Tom Procter, John’s son who heads up business development at Scribbler.
“The user experience and resultant product quality are fantastic – it feels really exciting to be innovating and taking greeting cards where they’ve never been before.”
The kiosks will feature Scribbler’s branding which has high consumer awareness as a result of its strong online and bricks-and-mortar presence and the greeting cards will be printed on 320gsm heavyweight board featuring the retailer’s logo as well as Fujifilm’s.
Chris Chater, head of commercial development at Fujifilm UK, added: “With the introduction of the Scribbler/Fujifilm kiosks, not only will retailers be able to reduce footprint, stock holding and waste, but consumers will be able to choose and print the perfect card instantly.
“With thousands of designs and templates that can be updated and added to regularly, no customer will leave disappointed that they haven’t found the right card.”
Following a similar model to photobooths, various commercial options are on offer to the retail trade. Those wishing to register their interest in the upcoming trade launch can email Tom Procter on kiosks@scribbler.com.
