Multi-media artist becomes publisher’s first collaboration
Rush Design founder Lorraine Bradley has announced the publisher’s first collaboration as the card company has just started working with multi-media artist Sarah Boddy to created the aptly-named Boddy Of Works collection.
“It’s been on my radar to collaborate with an artist on a collection for a while,” Lorraine explained, “my husband Ian knew Sarah already, selling her designs as an agent. It’s been a lot of fun working with Sarah and evolving the format of the designs and collection.”
Initially trained as a knitwear designer, Sarah has always had a passion for design and artwork and explained that she went into designing and making her own Christmas cards to send to friends and family after leaving the knitwear industry when her children came along,
This led to requests for cards to be made for the following Christmas and birthdays, and a friend persuaded Sarah to produce her own range which she took to Spring Fair in 2006.
That led to her gentle humour brand Camilla & Rose which was sold through Peartree Heybridge until the company closed in late 2023 and is now published by Cherry Orchard.
Although known for the humour, Sarah is also an accomplished wildlife, nature and landscape artist, both in colour and monochrome, and the initial 40-strong Rush Design collection of blanks, birthdays and captions includes her distinctive florals and will be unveiled on the publisher’s stand (stand 3S20) at Spring Fair, February 2-5 at Birmingham’s NEC.
