Rose Hill takes on Japan

Rose Hill, the artist behind Rose Hill Designs will be heading out to Japan next year to run one of her Make Your Pet Famous events at a Tokyo boutique, Rachien Smoothie. Rose ran a Make Your Pet Famous event at Aria in London in March where 50 dogs and three cats enjoyed a live photoshoot experience with complimentary photography, alongside made-to-order portraits created by Rose Hill Designs.

Rose explains how the relationship with Rachien Smoothie started: “The owner of the boutique, Kyoko Hashimoto discovered my work at ITO-YA – a very cool 11 storey shop in the middle of Tokyo. She loved my artwork so much she decided to get in touch. Her beautiful cat Maqui had just died, and she wanted to make him famous. While I was drawing Maqui her other cat also died – it was very sad. She asked if I could draw Chia as well and she was absolutely thrilled with the drawings, deciding to order lots of cards and notebooks for her shop.”

Kyoko was interviewed about her shop by a Japanese magazine that featured the Rose Hill Designs artworks. Some of the cards were even chosen as the special gift in the magazine.

“Kyoko really wanted to attend the Make Your Pet Famous event I ran at Aria in London in March, but couldn’t make it,” says Rose. “So we discussed doing an event with her in Japan. We are both so excited and can’t wait for the event! It will have a similar atmosphere to the London event; we haven’t finalised the plans yet, we want to make it bigger and better than the first one. It’s funny as I think the love for animals can overcome any language barriers – smiles and mime can go a long way!”

Before heading to Japan Rose will be running another Make Your Pet Famous event on 15 November at Old Diorama Arts Centre, 201 Drummond Street, London with more impressive artworks.
