Rose explains how the commission came about: “At the end of May I went to Supermundane’s (an art studio well known for murals) open studio and was chatting to the owner Rob Lowe about working on a larger scale and that it was something I really wanted to do.

“Rob told me that a very cool book shop around the corner called Small-Print Books in Forest Hill wanted a mural. So I went in and showed the owner, Jenny Thomas my work. Luckily we both have smart phones which means we have our portfolios at our finger tips and suggested some ideas of what I can do. She loved it and said right there and then that she wanted me to do it, I was thrilled!”

Jenny emailed Rose and asked if she could start the following week. “I re-arranged my schedule allowing me to start on the Monday. I worked from 9am until midnight every day listening to podcasts while painting which was wonderful! Jenny loved the work so much that she asked if I could extend it to the main wall for the reading/workshop space; so painting continued for the following month.”
