It has been a very successful lift off for greeting card publisher Rocket68’s brand new card shop in Somerset. Located in Somerton, near Glastonbury, the shop adjoins the publisher’s studio where owner Jill White designs all the cards.
“It’s going really well so far,” Jill told PG Buzz. “I am attracting many locals plus lots of ‘staycationers’, definitely the ‘shop local’ trend is helping.”
Describing the new card shop’s point of difference, Jill explains “customers can see the designs as they develops as I work in open plan studio at back of premises where I also pack all online card and print orders.”
While Jill has previously run a smaller shop/studio in the village where she lives, the new set up as it is a much larger space on a busy main road of a bustling market town.
“It’s spacious for pushchairs, wheelchairs and good dogs!” exclaims Jill.
As well as the sales, Jill also cites the advantages of being able to straddle her publishing business with life as a retailer. “I love the fact that I get so much feedback and also design ideas direct from my customers. I also offer bespoke so it’s a great space to discuss this with the customer/client. Having a shop is a great way to showcase your work too, which leads to other illustration/licensing work.”
The shop is dedicated to Rocket68’s product portfolio which includes greeting cards, prints, wrap coasters across a variety of design styles and market sectors.
Rocket68 will be exhibiting at PG Live (July 27-28) on stand 100. It will be showing new Christmas and male ranges as well as its new ‘Passion4Plants’ range, and many stunning additions to its award-nominated Kimono and London Calling collections.
