With the start of the year, Top Drawer and Spring Fair seeing a wealth of new ranges being launched, as it is Valentine’s Day, PG Buzz asked a trio of retailers what of this newness has sent their hearts soaring.
Michelle Ellingham, owner of Box of Delights, Flitwick:
“I am loving lots of lovely new fresh card ranges and additions to existing collections. Among the highlights for me have been Five Dollar Shake/Counting Stars’ amazing new cards, wrap and gift bags, including those with biodegradable glitter.
Belly Button Designs has launched some great new colourful collections, including Elle, new Coco, a new men’s range and Be, a lovely sentiment/inspirational range.
Great to see that Rosie Made a Thing brand has expanded into wrappings (from Glick) and mugs (from McLaggan).
I really liked Rachel Ellen Designs’ new inspirational card range as I think we all need words of encouragement at difficult times, especially as we are all being encouraged to be honest and open about mental health.
The new contemporary collections from The Art File, Stop The Clock and Hearts Designs, ages from Wendy Jones-Blackett while the new humour from Redback Cards and Paperlink are also fab.”
Roger Eames, co-owner Celebrations of Stourbridge:
“Redback Cards’ Shine range is just lovely with reversible sequins making up the design, which we have not seen on cards before. We already have them in the shop and they are selling well.
While our main focus at Spring Fair tends to be gifts and Christmas, we did order a range of family ages from Belly Button which are beautiful designs and just the right size for a special birthday.”
Mark Rees, managing director of Penmark Cards, 11 stores in the Midlands area:
“Ranges that really caught my eye from the recent launches include Paper Salad new kids’ Jamboree embossed card range, Brainbox Candy’s Cheeky Box, plus the new designs from Rosie Made a Thing and Redback Cards. I was also really impressed with Words ‘n’ Wishes’ new card ranges. Glick’s Christmas giftwrappings collection range looks fantastic again with the licensing tie-ups with Redback and Rosie Made a Thing will make a strong story instore.”
