Redback Cards is extending its Cloud Nine greeting card range into gifts and giftwrap through licensing deals with Transomnia and Glick respectively.
Chris Stanley, co-founder of Redback reveals that it was a conversation with Rosie Trow, the publisher’s South West agent that led to a licensing agreement being signed with gift company Transomnia for its Henries award-winning Cloud Nine card range.
“We had explored producing the gifts ourselves, but we soon realised that it makes a lot of sense to work with companies, like Transomnia and Glick, who have relationships on the manufacturing side to produce the products not only to a high standard, but at a commercial price.”
Chris co-created the Cloud Nine card range, with Capella Andrean, Redback’s creative manager in September and it has grown in popularity ever since fuelling a demand for other products under the brand.
Greg Rose, head of buying and design at Transomnia said the company was delighted to have entered into partnership with Redback Cards, “who we consider to be one of the most innovative and forward-thinking greeting card suppliers in the UK. We are looking forward to launching our fabulous new range of gifts developed in collaboration with Redback, using its extremely popular Cloud Nine imagery in early autumn.”
Meanwhile, giftwrapping experts Glick also spotted the potential in Redback’s contemporary humorous range. As a result it is to launch a collection of three wraps and six giftbags featuring some of the Cloud Nine designs.
While the products will not be delivered until the start of next year, Glick will be pre-selling on its stand at PG Live. As Becky Dobson, director of Glick commented: “This broadens our offer into contemporary humour, which is something that is a bit different for Glick.”
Redback Cards will be showcasing the Cloud Nine range on its stand at PG Live (June 5 and 6).
