Papier named in top 10 online shops

Stationery retailer and Hallmark.com ranked among best 500 for American market

American magazine Newsweek has ranked UK-based greeting card and stationery store Papier.com as one of the top 10 websites for the arts and crafts sector with Hallmark clinching the 21st spot.

From an initial list of more than 9,500, Newsweek has recognised 500 online shops in 25 categories, using Statista’s proprietary research database along with public online databases, online directories, and price comparison websites to identify the most relevant online shops.

Those with the most American visitors and the highest US revenue in 2023 were then selected as candidates for further evaluation and tested one by one using 36 objective criteria and 10 subjective criteria on eight dimension – trust and security, purchase and delivery, structure and usability, service and communication, technical details, payment, likelihood of purchase, and traffic growth.

The categories include arts and crafts, building services, consumer electronics, DIY and tools, flowers and plants, home décor and textiles, household appliances media, and outdoor.

And Papier.com, which offers personalisable greetings as well as own-brand designs, came 10th in the arts and crafts rankings with a 7.64 score, behind top-rated US knitting site Purlsoho.com on 8.34, while Hallmark.com was 21st with 7.17.

Papier’s founder and CEO Taymoor Atighetchi wrote on LinkedIn: “Papier has always operated at the intersection of creativity and technology. We use the power of technology, data and AI to enhance our physical products through personalisation and deliver a truly memorable shopping experience.”

This comes on the back of the news that Papier has sold over one million paper diaries since it launched in 2015.

“We were told people don’t use diaries anymore,” followers were told on the social media platform. “The opposite has been true. More people than ever are putting pen to paper to organise their lives, and the trend keeps growing.”
