Mantons earns 30,000 thanks

Indie retailer’s charity help appreciated as Chris, Debbie and team continue efforts

There are 30,000 reasons why Port Erin folk love the greetings and gift store Mantons Cards as that’s the total in hard cash that the Isle of Man-based indie retailer has raised for local charities and organisations – so far!

Co-owners Chris and Debbie Beards are determined to keep the generosity going with events, donations of stock, and greeting card sales, and the latest effort saw £660 handed over to the Disasters Emergency Committee and Red Cross to help the people of Ukraine.

“We’re all extremely proud to have been able to raise over £30,000,” Chris said, “we’re also thrilled to have worked with and helped local organisations such as Crossroads Care, Isle Of Man Arts Council and The Isle Of Man Post Office, as well as the recent £660 for Ukraine.

“I’d personally like to thank all our amazing current and previous team members and our fantastic customers who have helped make this possible.”

Chris and the Mantons team, which includes his wife Debbie along with Lisa Walster, Olivia Leggate, Sophie Christian, and Esther Leece, plan to keep on fundraising, helping the community and supporting new artists and small gift and greeting card suppliers.

Megan Faragher, fundraising coordinator for the Crossroads Care charity which supplies support to carers and people who have care needs, added: “Like many other local charities, Crossroads has felt the effect of the pandemic financially and it’s been wonderful to have the support of Mantons, especially in a time when the retail industry has also felt the effects.

“Mantons has been a great supporter of Crossroads over the years, and we would like to thank the Mantons team for making such generous donations to our charity and congratulate them on their continued dedication to supporting our local community.”
