For the first time ever, Danilo has revealed a separate sports calendar Top Ten, which shows that Manchester United is top of the league, demoting Liverpool (last year’s winner) into second position.
Released to the media on Saturday (December 2) to help promote calendar buying generally, the Danilo Top Tens are charts compiled from sales data from Danilo online, HMV, Tesco, Calendar Club, Amazon, together with retail chains and independent retailers around the UK as well as overseas.
Explaining the rationale behind the move to two Top Tens, Daniel Prince, operations director of Danilo said: “We wanted to better reflect the diversity of calendar buying, so opted to separate the entertainment titles from those from the sporting world.”
While there are some stalwarts in the line-up – with Cliff Richard, Elvis and Kylie (3rd,5th and 8th in Danilo’s entertainment league) – they are joined by newbies, most notable of which being TV series Rick and Morty, in 4th position and YouTube sensation JoJo Siwa (entering in 9th position).
Meanwhile in the sporting field, Tottenham Hotspur has shot up the calendar rankings from 17th in Danilo’s ‘hot list’ last year to 3rd place this year as has Manchester City, which debuted in 7th place, having not even featured last year in the line-up.

The announcement of Danilo’s Official Calendar Charts came only a few days after the publisher received three awards in the inaugural Calies, UK Calendar Awards, the new UK Calendar Awards, owned and organised by Max Publishing, publisher of Progressive Greetings.
Danilo won the Best Music, Talent or Sports Calendar award for its The Beatles Collectors as well as the Best Family Organiser or Planner award for its Happy Jackson family organiser.
The grand finale of the awards event was the presentation of two Calendar Ambassador awards, the first of which was presented to Laurence Prince, Danilo’s founder and chairman.
Next year will mark the 40th anniversary of Danilo, four decade since Laurence travelled to LA and sealed the deal with Elvis’ manager Colonel Parker with a suitcase full of $25,000 in cash as a result of which he was presented by a set of bull’s horns, that are still on show in the calendar publisher’s Waltham Abbey offices.
