Queens, Tatty Teddy and Willow ensure greeting cards stand out at Brand Licensing Europe
Life is definitely a drag, in a good way, for agent The London Studio as its newest greeting card and gifting artwork brand concept was given its first outing at this week’s BLE show with added pizazz from Sibyl Grimm and Tania LeCoq.
The drag queens joined company founder Soula Zavacopoulos for her first time exhibiting at Brand Licensing Europe this week to promote new brand Art Of Drag to potential licensees.
With a selfie frame, wigs and accessories for visitors to join in the glamour, Soula said: “I kept this range under wraps to launch at my first BLE and I’m excited that people have loved it – people have found it so much fun.”
And Carousel Calendars wasted no time in spotting the potential in the brand, clinching the licensing rights to a calendar already.
Greeting cards are no strangers to the specialist licensing trade fair – the three-day show at London’s ExCel finished yesterday, 22 September – with Carte Blanche Greetings taking a stand to further the publisher’s brand ambitions for Tatty Teddy and Me To You, and the new partnership with Bulldog Licensing was announced as the event opened on Tuesday.
CBG’s head of licensing Talia Tester and licensing approvals coordinator Aneta Gral had a busy time setting up for BLE as they had to wrangle no less than 400 plush Tatty Teddies and Tiny Tatty Teddies into two frames for the display – but their handiwork isn’t going to waste now the stand has been broken down as they plan to install the artworks in the company’s Chichester head office.
And one of the cutest tie-ups at BLE has to have been explosives detection dog Willow who made sure the building was safe each morning then got to walk around with handler Mandy Fairs.
Willow made a beeline for the Battersea Dogs & Cats Home stand where she was able to admire the fabulous 3D cards the charity has developed this year in partnership with Cardology, along with UK Greetings’ brand-new licensed range, and calendars from Carousel Calendars.
