GCA grows podcast series with The Art File’s Ged Mace, and check out webinar and conference tickets
As cardies love talking cards and constantly learning more about the business, the GCA’s latest series of podcasts is growing.
The Art File md Ged Mace’s podcast has just gone live on Talking Cards With Industry Leaders to join insights from from Karen Wilson and Claire Williams of Paper Salad, Len and Issy Smith of Leonard Smith Publishing, and Alan Harnik, of US distributor Notes & Queries.
“The podcast series has now been heard by over 500 cardies with listeners growing with each release,” GCA ceo Amanda Fergusson said, adding that the series is a look at key greeting card designers, publishers and individuals whose “passion, drive and talent has influenced and shaped the history of our industry”.
“We have had great feedback from those who have listened with people stopping Adriana and I in the aisles at PG Live and saying how wonderful they are.”
And the GCA hopes listening to those who have made a major contribution to the industry talk about their journey, and advice they’d give their younger self, will help and inspire the next generation.
Ged was interviewed by GCA council member and Ohh Deer co-founder Mark Callaby who said: “I’ve always admired The Art File, not only for their design but for the way that they deliver a customer experience that makes them stand out among the crowd, so it was great to speak with Ged and learn more about his career in cards for nearly 40 years.”
The Art File is also involved in the next GCA webinar, which is open to non-members too, where sales and marketing manager James Mace will be leading the discussion and sharing his top tips for working with sales agents.
On the panel are north west agent Richard Pass, south and south west agent Rosie Trow, Second Nature general manager Chris Bryan, and Amanda.
The webinar takes place on Tuesday, 9 July, at 10am and places can be reserved here at £20 for GCA members or £75 for non-members, and questions can be emailed in advance to amanda@gca.cards.
The next GCA event is the Bristol Local, the latest fun networking meet-up aimed at bringing together association members across the country in small groups to chat everything cards over a coffee or a drink.
This event is on 11 July, at the Harbour Hotel, Bristol, from 10.30am-12.30pm, and the £10 tickets can be bought here.
And tickets are also available for the 2024 GCA conference and AGM, which is at the same venue on 19 September with Royal Mail’s director of external affairs and policy David Gold as a headline speaker.
Back by popular demand is the Kantar team with consumer insights, and there will also be a presentation from growing retailer Cardzone’s trading director James Taylor, plus publisher James Stevens, founder of James Ellis, will be looking at sustainability differently, and Ohh Deer’s Mark Callaby will explain how you can do anything – but not everything!
Conference tickets are available to GCA members at £120 each, and can be bought here, and there’s also the chance to book on the link for the networking links the evening before, hosted by Ling Design and Emotional Rescue.
