Online store’s 1,000 card boost for Festive Friday as 85p stamps send love across the UK
Sending extra Christmas wishes is the aim behind online greeting card and gifts shop Love Kate’s festive mission where owner Kate Malt and her team hope to help send 1,000 extra cards.
Together With Wishes is the specially-designed card from in-house artist Tabitha Corbett which Love Kate’s is gifting to customers, charities and organisations, such as care homes, and offering at a discounted price on the website to join in the #Cardmitment campaign and kick of a wave of festive sending.
Based in Newquay, Cornwall, Kate explained: “The idea took shape when we decided to decorate the Land’s End First & Last post box for Christmas with a crochet hat made by our talented team member, Maddy.
“This sparked a larger mission – to honour the spirit of sending Christmas cards, we chose this iconic location to represent the journey of card sending, and I’ll be sending my cards from Land’s End.”
Tabby’s Christmas card features an artistic design that showcases the post box, Maddy’s crochet hat, and the iconic Land’s End signpost, and Kate added: “On the signpost, we’ve signposted your heart and their home, emphasising the connection between loved ones. The beautiful illustration helps spread the message of together with wishes from our hearts to yours.”
And, aligning with the GCA’s #Cardmitment message that it only costs 85p for a second-class stamp that takes a card anywhere across the UK from Land’s End to John O’Groats – just £0.001 per mile, Love Kate’s has “printed a thousand cards to send a thousand Christmas wishes, roughly one card for every kilometre” on that journey.
The idea came about at one of the end-of-summer team meetings where “the conversation naturally turned to Christmas – something that tends to happen at a card shop in August” as they wondered how to kick off the wave of Christmas card sending, and they’ll be joining in by sending the card themselves on Festive Friday, 29 November, which is the date the GCA encourages the greetings industry to sit and write all their own cards to start December with a deluge of festive missives arriving through the post.
“We understand the joy of receiving a Christmas card,” Kate said, “the warm, fuzzy feeling you get when it arrives in your letterbox, the delight of opening it to read the heartfelt greeting inside, and the pride in displaying it on your mantelpiece or windowsill.
“Each card brings love from friends and family, bringing joy to your day and filling your home with Christmas cheer. That’s what our Together With Wishes’ campaign is all about, celebrating the joy of connection at Christmas.”
And the Love Kates team will be showcasing a social media gallery on the website, highlighting all the wonderful Christmas wishes shared across the country, from Land’s End to John O’Groats!
