Latest foiling machine boosts popular InPress seminar sessions for newbie publishers
Making sure publishers achieve better turnaround times as well as providing help for newbies is the aim at The Imaging Centre, and the printer’s latest technology should prove a good investment.
Managing director Adam Short and the team have just taken delivery of a Caslon NSF Elite Mark 2 block finishing machine, which is now sitting alongside their existing Caslon finishing equipment.
“It will increase our capacity for special finishing,” Adam told PG Buzz, “and help our ongoing quest to reduce turnaround times.” Click below to see the machine in action.
And Adam is aiming to put the NSF Elite foiling machine through its paces in front of a live audience at the first of the company’s free InPress seminars for new publishers on 15 September. He added: “Our first one is fully booked and we only have a couple of spaces left now for the second session in October – I’m now working on session three!”
The Imaging Centre launched the InPress seminars scheme recently, seeing it as a great way to help newbies in the greeting card industry. The monthly sessions will see eight attendees being walked through all the trials and tribulations of becoming a publisher – including seeing their card designs coming to life on the day, and being printed on site.
As a taster for getting more involved with industry organisations such as the GCA, The Ladder Club and PG – which are all on board with this new scheme – the idea of the hands-on sessions at the printer’s Marden, Kent, HQ is to give newbies pointers to how they can get the best out of their designs by working collaboratively with their printers and suppliers.
“The Imaging Centre is here to support publishers, from thought to finish,” Adam told PG Buzz. “so, if you’re thinking of becoming a greeting card publisher get the best possible start in this inspirational and exciting industry by attending our InPress seminars.
“Our aim is to champion and evolve the greeting card industry with regular free seminars, based around a variety of hot topics, giving a welcome into the wonderful world of greetings.
“With subjects from the environment and what the retailer wants, through to utilising technology to free up your design time, and making the dream a reality, at the end of the seminar, you will watch your greeting cards get produced ready for you to take home.”
As well as the GCA and Ladder Club, other industry stalwarts supporting the InPress seminars include Progressive Greetings magazine, board supplier G.F Smith, retailers &Quirky and Scribbler, and publishers Deckled Edge, Lanther Black, Poet And Painter, and Toasted Crumpet.
