For many the very idea of coming up with just one great greeting card design would be a pipedream. But James Hearne, one of the talented artists represented by artist agency Image Source, has just celebrated creating his 2,500th piece of greeting card and wrap artwork.
James’ images have graced countless greeting cards and giftbags, with his cheerful Christmas depictions being something of a speciality.
As Emma Gray, sales and creative manager of Image Source commented: “It’s an amazing contribution to the Greetings market and an array of other industries and we are super proud of his steadfast commitment! James is an asset to our company and to the industries he supports and we look forward to seeing and sharing the next 2,500 artworks with all our customers.”
Looking back to his artistic beginnings, James told PG Buzz: “I have always loved drawing for as long as I can remember, I even managed to sell my first piece of art to some German tourists at my grandma’s hotel when I was 6 or 7 years-old for 50p, which was a king’s ransom at that age. I guess that feeling must have stuck with me!”
His route into designing cards came about as a result of studying surface decoration at university, which led to some freelance work in the industry.
Revealing his favourite period in the design’s creation, James is in no doubt: “The initial sketch, when I first put down what is in my head onto a screen (what happened to paper?) It is the most creative moment for me, after that it is just sweat and tears to getting it done.”
James Hearne’s artworks (as well as those from other artists) can be viewed on Image Source’s stand at the Autumn Fair (Hall 4, Stand D58) as well as on its website (image-source.co.uk)
