IG Design Group Shows Its Strength Of Character

Anyone passing IG Design Group’s (DG UK) three UK premises on Wednesday (June 24) would have taken a second look as almost all its staff were dressed up as famous licensed characters as part of a company ‘licensing day’. From Mickey Mouse to Mary Poppins, Woody to Pizza Planet Aliens, the teams at Design Group’s Newport Pagnell, Stapleford and Welsh offices all got into character for a day of fun as well as learning. All staff attended a presentation, staged in each site, which gave a business update as to the licensing strategy of the group.

“Licensing is very important to us,” IG Design Group’s ceo Paul Fineman told PG Buzz recently “Our licensed merchandise sales now account for 13% of our turnover and this is set to grow,” he revealed when the company’s last revealed its impressive financial results.

This week’s Licensing Day is part of the company’s reinforced commitment to licensing. It produces a broad spectrum of products (including greeting cards, wrap, stationery, gifts and toys) both through exclusive ranges for retailers as well as those generally available across many key licensed brands.

In addition to the serious business, DG’s Licensing Day also saw fancy dress competitions, a licensing quiz as well as a ‘hunt for Woody’, with a Toy Story 4 hero hidden in each of the buildings with over £500 being raised for Great Ormond Street, Disney’s charity of choice.

In addition, DG UK also shared news about its On Pack Recycling Label (OPRL) initiative it has instigated in partnership with Disney to encourage the consumer to responsibly recycle.

The new OPRL logo will debut on a range of Frozen 2 products from IG UK. “These products have been designed with sustainability in mind, removing all unnecessary plastic packaging and where plastic components  have been required we ensure alternative materials such as PET are used that are widely recyclable everywhere in the UK,” explained Katie Brickle, brand communications manager of DG UK.
