Hoorays from Henries’ finalists keep flowing

Publishers spread the love in sharing their good news

 

“It’s flippin’ brilliant to be a finalist for Most Promising Young Designer! I’m absolutely tickled pink –unless it’s just a rash!” exclaimed Bewilderbeest founder Iain Hamilton, responding to the news that he’s in the finals of The Henries.

“There’s no end of fantastic designers in the industry, so it’s great to be up there with some of them. I knew that I’d learn to colour inside the lines eventually, and clearly, it’s paid off!” Click below to hear it from Iain himself.

Iain is one of many very happy publishers who heard the good news a few days ago that they have made it into the finals of The Henries 2022 greeting card awards.

James Ellis managing director James Stevens’ lovely holiday in Cornwall got even better when he heard thje news. “It’s just great and we couldn’t believe it! We’ve been producing Shakies for years, but it has taken a while to get the hang of how to recreate the format without using plastic and we were really happy with these two ranges.  We were so pleased that this hard work has been recognised by the judges and we are humbled to be in the finals with such great competition. Raspberry Blossom’s co-owners Rebecca and Mark Green were more than happy with a kids-free night out to celebrate their Henries success, being in the finals of two product categories as well as the publisher’s designer Mia Dunton reaching the finals in The Lynn Tait Most Promising Young Designer or Artist award. Enjoying the fine weather at home Lorraine and Ian Bradley, co-owners of Rush Design, are even more full of smiles than usual. “We are honoured and excited to be a finalist in The Henries awards 2022, Best Christmas Counter Card category. Staying on the garden theme, Stormy Knight founder Sarah Jackson told PG Buzz: “I was incredibly excited to find out our BLOOM seed stick cards are finalists in two categories in this year’s Henries, in Best Contemporary Trend and Best Christmas Counter Range. The Henries awards night is a highlight of our year – it’s amazing to come together with other friends and publishers to celebrate this wonderful industry. “We are delighted that our Only Fools And Horses range has been nominated for the prestigious Henry Cole Award. We have been working with the BBC to publish an Only Fools And Horses card range for 15 years and it continues to perform very well as an evergreen brand at retail to this day, particularly as it is the leading male brand for Father’s Day and Male captions. We have our fingers crossed for the award ceremony on 6 October that this classic and popular TV sitcom-based range will claim the trophy and is welcomed into The Henry Cole Hall Of Fame,” said Daniel Prince, managing director of Danilo.

Nicci Gower, founder of Hammond Gower Publishing, was dead chuffed: “Everyone here at HGP is absolutely delighted to have got this far! There are so many brilliant card companies here in the UK producing such exceptional product we feel thrilled to stand beside them,”

“I am so thrilled to be a finalist, I honestly can’t quite believe it. It means so much to be recognised especially among such talented designers across all the categories,” exclaimed Sophie Brabbins, who is in the finals in The Lynn Tait Most Promising Young Designer Or Artist category as well as Best Art Range with her The Botanist’s Study Collection.

“We’re absolutely delighted to be a finalist at this year’s Henries Awards. Super chuffed to be chosen among so many other great designers and publishers!” said Jamie Macdonald, co-owner of Whale & Bird.

Cinnamon Aitch co-owners Sarah Fitzgerald and Sara Burford exclaimed: “We feel totally honoured and very proud to be finalists in the Best Diversity & Inclusion category for our lovely She range. It definitely does seem to have hit the spot with retailers and customers as it’s selling like hot cakes!  Proud to be celebrating strong women everywhere!”

“We are over the moon to have made it to the finals of this year’s Henries. We’ve worked really hard over the past year on lots of fun new ranges, and it means a lot to have some of that hard work recognised through this nomination. Myself and all the team at Lucy Maggie want to thank the judges for choosing our Too Wordy range, and we look forward to attending the awards ceremony in London in October!” said Lucy Nicholson, founder of Lucy Maggie Designs and Sunshine Llama.

“I’m absolutely over the moon that Ginger Betty are a Henries finalist! I can’t stop smiling! A huge thank you to everyone that voted for us.” said Tracey Colliston, founder of Ginger Betty, whose Owl’s Nest range is a Best Cute Range finalist, having won that award last year with the same range.

With the Best Service To The Independent Retailer finalists to be announced later week, all winners of The Henries 2022 will be announced at the industry’s big night, a lavish awards event, taking place at London’s Royal Lancaster Hotel on Thursday, 6 October, 2022.

The Henries 2022 awards event will be jumpin’, as it takes on an up-tempo 1950s theme this year for the fabulous opportunity for the greeting card community to get together and celebrate its creative excellence as well as its strong sense of camaraderie. To book tickets click here.
