Longtime fan of the books by F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, Five Dollar Shake’s co-founder Beth Genower’s dream of being able to use the authors’ words on products came to fruition last week, within the More Glitter (Less Bitter) range published under its Counting Stars brand which launched at PG Live a few days ago.
“I have been reading the Fitzgeralds’ books since I was a young girl and love them. I have wanted to included some of their ‘written gems’ on our products for years,” Beth told PG Buzz. “So, I wrote to the Fitzgerald family and asked if this would be possible, not really expecting to hear back. To my great surprise, I received a very enthusiastic response and started working with their grand-daughter ‘Bobbie’ on creating the range,” adds Beth.
Beth’s deep knowledge of the writings (the most famous of which being The Great Gatsby) meant she has been able to isolate poignant phrases or sentences from within the Fitzgeralds’ portfolio of work to feature on the super sparkly cards and notebook collection.
Beth revealed that while this inaugural range, under its Counting Stars division is very much focused on the text, it is her intention to extend into producing products under its Five Dollar Shake brand that will see quotes from Scott and Zelda coupled with illustration.
As a result of becoming a licensee, Five Dollar Shake and its sibling brand Counting Stars are officially the only company allowed to use the Fitzgeralds’ quotes on products in the UK for paper products and tote bags.
