GOTY 2023 open for entries

This year’s contest officially announced as Cardology celebrate winning people’s vote

As Cardology reflects on earning the Gift Of The Year 2022 People’s Choice award, the news has landed that the 2023 competition is now open, with sustainability a key theme.

Run by The Giftware Association, it’s all systems go for the next iteration of the annual competition for the gifts and home industry, which has a Cards, Wrap & Stationery category – which saw the eco-friendly Shroot’s Greens & Greetings collection triumph in the 2022 awards programme.

“We are super excited to once again launch the Gift Of The Year competition,” said The GA’s ceo Sarah Ward. “And, after seeing so many new and exciting companies and products at Harrogate Home & Gift in July, we have no doubt this year’s competition will be full to the brim of amazing products! To match them, we also have a very impressive line-up of judges from the retail world to choose the winners.”

While the 2023 competition was being announced, Cardology proved the power of the greeting card, with its Battersea Pop-Up Cards licensed collection beating 284 other products to win The People’s Choice award, garnering 500 of the 7,000 votes cast by the public.

The GOTY awards are the gift and home industry’s largest and longest running competition, with products in this year’s 18 categories guaranteed to be seen by buyers, retailers and the trade media who make up the judging panel.

There is a charge for entering but, at every stage of the competition, which closes in December, entrants will receive promotional marketing material to boost their brand, as well as ways for companies to fanfare their achievements, such as a GOTY Nominated logo for all entrants.

The GA’s PR and marketing manager Chris Workman added: “This year we want to grow on last year’s success and really boost the competition to new audiences as well as encouraging brands to enter earlier so we can highlight their great products to our audiences.

“We have been working hard behind the scenes to create a smooth user journey on the website and to enter your products, and will be reviewing sustainability through all categories of the competition this year as well as recruiting specialist judges for selected categories.”

The winners will be announced at The Gift Awards 2023, which take place at London’s Royal Lancaster Hotel on 11 May, 2023, alongside the winners of The Greats gift retailer awards, which are owned and organised by Max Publishing, owners of Progressive Greetings and PG Buzz.
