New Batley premises triple company’s space to continue giftwrap expansion
Glick is making the move to a new home more than three times the size of its current Bradford headquarters.
The giftwrap, gift bag and accessories business will be taking over state-of-the-art premises in Batley, less than eight miles away from its current home.
Glick MD Becky Dobson explained that, thanks to the support of its loyal retailer customer base, the business has grown exponentially in recent years and the new premises are more than three times the size of their existing site, providing 37,000 square feet of much-needed warehouse and office space, which the company will move in to in the first quarter of the new year.
“It’s imperative now that we can grow as a team to expand our operation and improve our facilities in order that we can better serve our customers,” Becky said.
“Our new warehouse will enable us to expand our range of products and manage all of our stock under one roof. At present we have more stock outside our own buildings as we have had to take on extra storage facilities nearby.”
Alongside moving premises, Becky also revealed there to be further investment in new technologies “to further improve efficiencies in our warehouse operations as we continue to strive for excellence in customer service.”
Glick is known and respected for its licensed and in-house wrap and bag designs, with the Stephanie Dyment range winning the Best Giftwrappings Range at The Henries Awards last month, and the Paper Salad collection was also a finalist – the win was the 10th year in a row for the company.
Having been acquired and run for many years by Simon Elvin, Glick was included in the management buyout by Ian Jackson in late 2019 from Simon and his wife Janet, becoming part of the Paper Design Group along with Simon Elvin Ltd, Nigel Quiney Publications, Paper Rose, and Polytint.
In April 2023 Alison Butterworth and John Lowey completed a management buyout of NQP and Paper Rose, when it was confirmed that Ian had also sold Glick and the other two brands to Pillarbox Designs where he remains a director of these companies.
Though both Paul and Chris Taylor are also co-owners of the Cardzone retail group, Pillarbox Designs is a private investment for the couple and not connected to their retailing business interests.
