AfroTouch Design and Sylvia Prince exhibit at Black History Week event
Greeting card company AfroTouch Design has teamed up with African clothing business Cumo London to mark Black History Month with a special collaboration.
“We’ve created a limited-edition greeting card that says I See You & Appreciate You, a message that celebrates the beauty of African culture, diversity, and appreciation,” explained AfroTouch founder Georgina Fihosy.
Both Georgina and Cumo are offering 15% discounts across their websites as part of the celebration, and she added: “Let’s celebrate diversity, shop with purpose, and make an impact together this Black History Month.”
As part of the annual commemoration of important people and events in the past for the African diaspora, which is celebrated in the UK in October and in America and Canada as African-American History Month in February, Georgina also took part in the UK Black Business Week events along with fellow publisher Sylvia Prince.
The annual event, at London’s ExCeL, involved a series of talks and over 200 speakers including boxing legend Chris Eubank Sr, entrepreneur and TV Dragon Stephen Bartlett, author, journalist and TV presenter Candice Braithwaite, former athlete Tessa Sanderson, and TV property expert Stuart Douglas, and ran from Tuesday to Friday, 15-18 October, with more than 250 exhibitors at the UK Black Business Show on Saturday.
Sylvia was “delighted” to be taking part in the show, and Georgina, whose experience at the event can be seen in the reel below, commented: “Wow, what an incredible day at the UK Black Business Show! A huge thank you to all the amazing members of the AfroTouch tribe who visited our stand and supported us. Your love and enthusiasm meant the word, and we’re truly grateful for every single person who stopped by, made a purchase or simple shared kind words.
“It’s moments like these that remind us why we do what we do, and we’re so excited to keep bringing you designs that celebrate our culture and heritage.
“It’s inspiring to see how the show continues to empower and enable Black entrepreneurs and professionals, and we’re honoured to have been a part of it.
“Greeting cards were front and centre at our stand this year, and it was fantastic to showcase our unique designs to such a receptive audience.
“We were so busy throughout the day that we didn’t have time to attend any of the seminars – a great problem to have! But the energy and support at the event more than made up for it. It was wonderful to connect with people who resonated with our new Culture & Pride collection and the work we champion.”
