Emotional Rescue’s best-selling humour range received some amazing publicity a few days ago, when the brand was the focus of a double page editorial feature in the Daily Mail, which the newspaper’s 1.5 million readers could not have failed to notice.
Under the headline ‘Battle of the Sexists’, the visual editorial spread (which would have cost £thousands had it been paid for advertising) highlighted the publication of six new Wit and Wisdom books, which have just been published by Kings Road Publishing (through a licensing agreement with Emotional Rescue). The two page editorial featured large depictions of 12 On the Ceiling artworks that appear in the books (and have also appeared as greeting cards) with the introduction reading: ‘Yes these pictures are so politically incorrect, but we defy you to look at them without laughing.’
The Wit and Wisdom range comes out in time for Christmas.
It’s the first time that the best-selling line of On The Ceiling greeting cards have been published in books. The books depicting evergreen On The Ceiling subjects of Wife, Husband, Dad, Mum, Beer and Wine will launch in store to meet the Christmas market, with a full gift programme gathering speed at the turn of the year and launching fully at the NEC Spring Fair.
“We have a very defined plan for the development of the On The Ceiling brand,” Martin Nevin, managing director of Emotional Rescue told PG Buzz. “We have entered into licensing arrangements with partners Danilo (for calendars and diaries) Expressions 4 U (for gifts including mugs, glasses, composite sets, chocolates and plaques). And as per the Daily Mail article, a range of six gift books, produced by Kings Road Publishing.”
Martin says that the company’s investment in On The Ceiling is on going “with many exciting plans into 2017 and beyond as it enters its 28th year.”
