This month Carte Blanche is launching a new, exciting competition for its independent customers to support its My Dinky Bear brand. Aimed at primary aged children, participants have 150 words to write a journal entry about an adventure that they would like to go on with My Dinky Bear.
Each store running the competition selects three lucky winners, each winning a Dinky bear of their choice. The overall winning entry will then be sent to Carte Blanche’s Head Office to be entered into a nationwide contest to win a visit by the My Dinky Bear character costume to the child’s school. The winning entry will be announced in July.
Carte Blanche has sent out almost 450 packs to independent retailers, many partnering with local schools to get children involved. “We wanted to run this competition in partnership with our independent stores. It’s a great way to encourage footfall and repeat visits to the store, but also a lovely way to build on the community spirit with those living locally to the store,” says head of creative, Fiona Yeoh. “We had fantastic feedback from the previous schools’ packs we did from stores and schools alike about how much the kids loved Dinky and writing in the journal, and this is a great next step to encourage and reward that great creativity!”
The competition is a soft link to the My Dinky Bear school promotion that Carte Blanche launched last September, with 600 activity packs having been sent to schools. Pupils are encouraged to take Dinky home and then write all about the adventures they go on together in the journal.
“The schools promotion still seems to be going well – schools are making their way through the journal using it for a whole variety of things like an award for ‘star of the week’. We’ve had requests for additional pages and in the most recent feedback from a school, the teacher said the children love having Dinky when it’s their turn and it works brilliantly on several levels as a teaching aid,” says Fiona.
Carte Blanche has recently launched a new range of My Dinky Bear additional products for retailers: new bears with hats, sticker packs, drawstring bags, drinking cups with straws, pompom bag charms and key rings.
