Leading independent greeting card retailer, Samantha Gibbs (owner of Nest in Stoneygate, Broughton Astley and Thurlaston) and Georgina Fihosy, the talented founder of diverse publisher AfroTouch Design will be contributing to the panel discussion, entitled ‘Shop local: Winning the customer voting with their wallet’ that is slated for 1pm on tomorrow’s (September 9) Autumn@Home, the second day of the digital alternative, in place of the physical Autumn Fair.
The 45 minute webinar, which is free for all to attend will watch, will see Samantha and Georgina join Therese Ørtenblad, the founder of the Small Business Collaborative/Let’s Talk Shop small business podcast series and Kathy Sirl, the owner of The Naked Pantry, a zero waste gift shop and coffee shop to discuss the consumer’s changing demands and behaviours.
Setting out the stall for the discussion, the Autumn Fair @ Home website details: ‘Consumers are becoming more educated and are now using their purchasing power in more conscious ways. From looking for ethical, sustainable pieces to wanting to support local artisans, the power of the consumer wallet is changing the face of retail today. With the shop local trend set to stay, learning how to succeed through promoting local, sustainable products is key for many retailers.
From creating a local ecosystem of micro-makers and brands to support your store to communicating your credentials with potential consumers, this expert panel will bring together retailers and artisans to discuss what the shop local trend means for retail and how best to implement this in store.’
This is just one of a whole programme of talks, webinars, presentations and product showcases which collectively have formed the two day digital Autumn Fair @ Home event, instigated by Hyve Group, organisers of Autumn Fair and Spring Fair.
