What do you give your Dad when he starts a new job? A Good Luck card of course. Even if your Dad is David Beckham and his new ‘job’ is co-owner of an American football club! Beckham is one of the owners of Inter Miami, a professional soccer club in the States and when the team played its first game last weekend (2 March against Los Angeles FC), Beckham’s kids – Brooklyn (21), Romeo (17), Cruz (15) and Harper (8) – gave him Good Luck cards, which of course he shared with his 61.3 million followers on Instagram.
And it just so happened that two of those cards were from British publishers – Rosie Made a Thing and Bexy Boo Designs!
Rosie Harrison, owner of Rosie Made a Thing admits she felt a little giddy when she found out. “It was all very exciting! It really is crazy that David Beckham would be receiving one of my cards on the other side of the world. I hope his dream comes true to build the best football team in America. With me by his side ;-)”
Rosie immediately told Bex Hassett, from Bexy Boo Designs, whose cards were also featured in the post from Beckham. “Just before I go to sleep every night, I draw an illustration on my phone of happy thoughts and send it to my twin sister George. However, I saw a message from Rosie (from Rosie Made a Thing) saying check out David Beckham’s Instagram story. I literally bounced off the bed when I saw it. Showed Jonny my husband then rushed into my daughter Amelie’s room to show her too. So most of the house was awake at midnight! I couldn’t have been happier. The feeling was amazing to think that the Beckham family had gone into a shop and chosen two of my cards.”
Unfortunately Inter Miami lost its first game against Los Angeles FC; perhaps the kids will have to buy David some more Good Luck cards when the team next plays this weekend!
