Cardfactory has just confirmed its team is set to breathe fire at the upcoming GCA Dragons’ Speed Dating event – and publishers need to get a move on to take advantage of the earlybird booking offer.

Monday, 8 January, is the last date to secure a place at the lower price of £150+vat by booking here, with a colleague able to accompany you for £30+vat, then it returns to the undiscounted cost of £175+vat.

Exclusively for GCA members, this year’s Dragons Speed Dating will take place on Thursday, 7 March, at London’s Business Design Centre where John Lewis, House of Cards, Postmark and Austin & Co will be alongside Cardfactory among the 18 retail dragons waiting to hear pitches from the publishers attending.

With spaces limited, they’ll be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis with each attendee able to have a 10-minute meeting with each of three buyers – one national account, one small group and one independent.

And publishers can also submit up to three cards for each of the buyers’ sample bags which they get to take away to examine the designs in detail.

“We also have a Prepare To Slay The Dragon Zoom on 23 January, for every publisher attending this event,” GCA ceo Amanda Fergusson said. “It will be attended by one of the retailers and also print firm Loxleys.”

The speed dating has been running for a number of years now, with the publishers divided into groups of six from which each dragon selects those they’d like to meet in the den.

The 2023 event saw buyers from Scribbler, Postmark, WHSmith, Stationery Supplies, Cardfactory, Diverse Brixton, Presents Sheen, Calladoodles Carshalton, Jarrold Norwich, Between The Lines, Wishlist Raynes Park, Garsons Farm, Moonpig, North London’s The Only Place For Pictures and Utility in Liverpool and Manchester take part.
