Bringing wrap to the table

Talking Tables expands recyclable party range into coordinating giftwrappings with PG Live launch

There’s a new kid on the wrap front with B Corp party supplies, gifts and games company Talking Tables launching its first giftwrappings and accessories collection at PG Live in a few days’ time.

As it celebrates its own 25th anniversary, Talking Tables has put its B Corp sustainability credentials to work to create Gift Kindly, described by founder Clare Harris as “a comprehensive design-led and ecologically-conscious collection for those who care for the planet and their people”.

“We’re particularly excited about the new wrapping paper,” Clare said, “which solves all those issues associated with traditional roll wrap. It has a paper zip seal that not only replaces the need for plastic wrap while providing protection, it also solves the tearing issues caused by stickers. The roll wrap can also be merchandised in two ways – either hanging as it has a special hook, or in a floor-standing unit provided.”

With consumers increasingly mindful of their impact on the environment, Clare is hoping the FSC-certified paper made from sustainably-managed forests will be a positive and popular choice as it’s plastic free and recyclable.

Wrapping paper, tissue paper, gift bags, gift tags, raffia ribbon and paper tape are available in the coordinated collection and she explained: “We were already producing tissue paper and gift bags within our paper tableware collections and all the designs have been developed to either stand alone in a gift wrapping station or to sit alongside our most popular tableware collections.

“It’s the overall concept that’s new, being 100% eco and coordinating with our wider collections. As well as Christmas we’ll be showing our birthday drop which is year round.”

Having built the business from her kitchen table in 1999 to a £20million annual turnover with 50 staff and offices in three countries, Clare has jumped right in to the greetings industry by joining with Scribbler to sponsor the lunchroom for both days of PG Live, which runs over Tuesday and Wednesday, 4-5 June at London’s Business Design Centre.

Talking Tables will be exhibiting on stand 237, where the Christmas and birthday offering will be on display along with a selection of its bestselling games.

Clare, who won The Greats 2023 Outstanding Achievement Award and returned as a sponsor this year to present the Best Non-Specialist Retailer Of Gifts trophy to The Voewood of Blackheath Standard, added: “We’re proud to partner with Scribbler on sponsoring the food hall – we hope our decorations brighten up your lunch!”
