Trio stride out to fundraise for Greenfingers charity as staff enjoy good baking
Ready, set – and walk! The Woodmansterne Walkers are putting their best feet forward with a combined 30-mile trek this month to raise money for the Greenfingers charity.
The trio from the Woodmansterne team want to help the charity dedicated to supporting children who spend time in UK hospices by creating inspiring gardens for them and their families to enjoy through play and fun, or therapeutic rest and relaxation.
The publisher is supporting Greenfingers’ Garden Re-Leaf Day on Friday, 18 March, with managing director Seth Woodmansterne, head of marketing Kate Leach, and Mark Timlett, head of sales independents, setting out on the walk, while back at the Watford base top bakers among the staff will be whipping up a storm to raise additional funds.
“We met the team from the charity at the Glee garden and trade show last year,” Kate told PG Buzz, “and, through our work with garden centres we’ve become aware of what a great charity it is.
“The gardens it creates are amazing and they benefit the children and their families so much – when I met with Linda Petrons from the charity she was telling me some stories of different gardens and I had to pretend I had something in my eye, it was so emotional,” reveals Kate.
The walk this coming Friday starts and finishes at Dobbies Garden Centre in Wendover.
Since Garden Re-Leaf Day began in 2012, those taking part have raised a whopping £730,000 to help bring the precious gift of a garden to more life-limited children and families who spend time in hospices across the UK.
The Woodmansterne Walkers’ target is £1,000 and they have already hit £680, so any donations are welcome via their JustGiving page.
