Balloons hit new heights

Pioneer Europe goes sky high in artistic Shard shoot with famed photographer

Pioneer Europe has been taking its Qualatex balloons sky high in a creative project with acclaimed photographer Kristina Makeevaat London’s tallest building.

The Shard was the location for a photoshoot this month in one of the four signature suites of the prestigious Shangri-La Hotel, which occupies 18 floors of skyscraper, where the Pioneer team helped bring Kristina’s artistic vision to life.

Over 200 20in clear Deco balloons were filled with 16in Qualatex navy latex balloons, inflated and arranged to create a magical image using the reflective properties to capture London’s famous skyline.

“It was an absolute honour and pleasure to work with Kristina and the Shangri-La Hotel on this project,” said Anna Hickman, product manager at Pioneer Europe. “Seeing the city of London from such a different perspective and the reflection in our Deco Bubble balloons was mesmerising.”

Anna explained that, against the backdrop of iconic landmarks such as St Paul’s Cathedral, Tower Bridge and the Tower Of London, the luminous glow of the cityscape is complemented by the reflective qualities of the Qualatex Deco Bubble Balloon.

Award-winning Russian photographer and digital artist Kristina, aka Hobopeeba, art-directed the shoot to capture the ethereal beauty of London’s skyline during the enchanting blue hour after sunset.

She said: “Balloons have always inspired me, evoking joy, wonder, and dreams. They possess a unique ability to infuse any space with magic and celebration. When presented with the opportunity to integrate balloons into my artistic vision, I eagerly embraced the chance.

“By combining the aerial beauty of the city with the reflective allure of crystal-clear bubble balloons, we’ve created a visual symphony that transcends ordinary perception.”
