As PG Live beckons, the clock doesn’t stop for babies

When co-founders of Stop the Clock Design, Kathy Harrington and Erin James both had babies within six months of each other, work didn’t stop, especially as the publisher had a stand booked at PG Live in a few weeks.

As Kathy explains: “In preparation for the new arrivals we became designing demons. We shut ourselves away in our lovely little studio and designed, designed, designed until our eyes went fuzzy. We worked on our Christmas, spring and everyday launches so that we knew we had enough in the bag to keep all of our lovely customers fed with exciting fresh designs.”

Juggling a new baby and work demands has certainly been challenging for the design duo. “Luckily we have a fantastic team of Stop the Clockers that have kept the business running at full steam while we are distracted changing nappies, talking gobbledygook and singing endless nursery rhymes,” says Kathy. “Cora (my daughter) is 6 and a half months now so I am back in working part time while Erin enjoys those precious first few months with her daughter Ada. It is quite a challenge to switch my brain into work mode after only a few hours’ sleep but ultimately I am enjoying the baby-work balance.”

All the hard work has paid off, with the brand new Milkshake range launching at PG Live in a few weeks time (June 5 and June 6), where Kathy and Erin will be exhibiting with babies and grandmas in tow! With its fresh, summery colour palette, abstract patterns and bold captions the cards are sure to stand out on a shelf. The range comprises of 24 designs covering birthday, congrats, new home, new job, thank you, get well soon and of course – new baby!
