Latest licensing deal supports LGBGT+ charity and sustainability goals
Greeting card licensing agent The London Studio has announced a new deal for its new brand Art Of Drag with Tall Boy Prints taking on six images.
The independent wall art company is a sibling to The Art File publishing business, which offers customers a constantly evolving eclectic mix of art with an emphasis on affordability and sustainability on a B2C basis.
And Tall Boy Prints has picked six images highlighting Art Of Drag’s trademark style which is the reimagining of famous artworks that feature cultural female icons, which it then replaces with drag artists
Karen Mace, Tall Boy Prints’ director and creative head, said: “Our aim is always to work with exceptional images that will bring colour, originality and joy to people’s homes – and Art Of Drag does all that and more.
“The stunning and witty imagery would be a hit with customers any time, but launching these artworks during Pride month is both very appropriate and very special. We’ve immensely enjoyed working with The London Studio and its talented team on these wonderful and memorable prints.”
The London Studio founder Soula Zavacopoulos explained: “Each original Art Of Drag artwork features a beautylicious drag queen, created by an award-winning independent art house of LGBTQ+ artists and allies.”
The range has just gone on sale at Tall Boy’s own online store and, with The London Studio, 20% of the sales of the prints during the Pride month of June will be donated to the AKT charity that supports LGBTQ+ young people in the UK facing or experiencing homelessness or living in a hostile environment.
In addition, there’s a sustainability angle with a tree being planted for each Art Of Drag print sold, thanks to Tall Boy Prints’ partnership with Ecologi, whose mission is to inspire and empower businesses to accelerate global action on climate and nature.
Tall Boy Prints has been offering affordable art since 2020, to print and frame on demand, using the highest-quality inks and materials with licensing partners including the Victoria & Albert Museum for which it creates a wide range of prints inspired by the V&A’s world-renowned holdings.
This is another very significant deal for Art Of Drag and The London Studio, which this year has already seen the brand appear on t-shirts, made using sustainable fabrics, through major UK retailer BoohooMan, and will also be on 2024 calendars, jigsaws and foiled embossed notebooks as a result of a licensing agreement with Flame Tree Publishing.
Soula was also in Las Vegas last week for the Licensing Expo show where she signed a deal with American licensing agency Firefly Brand Management which is now representing the brand Stateside.
