Archway’s £3k promise to EACH from festive FSDU

Wholesaler donates charity Christmas cards to local hospice

Altruism runs deep at greeting card wholesaler Archway Cards, and the family-run business has further notched up its commitment to charity while showing its support of the GCA Cardmitment campaign.

The Norwich-based business is guaranteeing a £3,000 donation to East Anglia Children’s Hospice charity (|EACH from its bespoke FSDU full of festive card packs and has donated a full display of cards to city hospice The Nook for the cards to be used by families and staff.

Having revealed its plans for the charity Christmas boxes earlier in the year, Archway has produced the FSDU of charity Christmas cards with publisher Second Nature, comprising 15 different designs.

“We’re donating 50% of the profit from the cards to EACH which is notably higher than the industry standard,” explained technical director Dan Begby. “Second Nature had also produced a similar line for Hospice UK under a different initiative which we also stock.”

Dan runs Archway, which was a 2024 finalist in The Retas Awards 2024 Best Greeting Card Wholesaler category, with his operations director wife Amy and her MD dad Chris Dyball, who set up the company 40 years ago.

The business got involved with EACH, which has the Princess Of Wales as patron, after nine-year-old family member Fraser Delf, who suffered from the rare Coats Plus Syndrome, received end-of-life care through the charity in 2020.

Dan added: “They provided exceptional services and care for Fraser and support for his brother Stuie, parents Carla and Stuart, and grandparents at the Milton Hospice in Cambridgeshire, and we have joined their business network to continue supporting their efforts.

“They receive just 15% of their funding from government and the rest of their funding is derived from corporate and personal donations. Their hospices cost thousands per day to run.”

“We really like the GCA #Cardmitment campaign to prompt people to send Christmas cards. We thought that by donating the FSDU it would make it a little easier for families who have the misfortune to be using the hospice and by sending the cards, it will spread awareness of the efforts and sentiment of EACH,” Dan said.

“We’re pleased to be participating in the spirit of the campaign by doing our best to find initiatives that benefit everyone involved.”

While this the first time Archway has produced a charity Christmas card unit, having guaranteed a donation of £3,000 to the charity, Dan said he “hopes to find ways of scaling up in future years provided we can secure the commitment from retailers too”.

Archway also supports Nelson’s Journey, a bereavement support service for children who have lost loved ones.
