Antalis acquires well-known paper brands

Administration deal secures future of Arjowiggins’ portfolio and boosts stock levels

Antalis, the board and paper supplier to many greeting card publishers and printers, has acquired a worldwide portfolio of brands – including the well-known Conqueror, Curious Collection, Keaykolour, Pop’Set and Rives ranges – from former supplier Arjowiggins Scotland Limited.

Arjowiggins Scotland went into administration in September 2022, and the acquisition boosts Antalis’ stock levels while it sources new suppliers.

Together with the Olin brand, Antalis said this acquisition demonstrates its commitment to continue to offer an attractive range of substrates including textured and coloured boards as well as envelopes to publishers and printers – with the exception of Conqueror, all the other brands acquired cover greeting card board weights.

“We are happy to provide a long-term future for these iconic brands,” said Xavier Jouvet, Antalis’ group papers director. “We’re already working on relaunching these brands with the support of best-in-class suppliers for a renewed assortment with a focus on quality and service levels.”

It has not been revealed who the suppliers are or where they’re based but, in the meantime, Antalis can ensure continuity of supply as Xavier confirmed the company has “acquired the vast majority of the remaining finished goods of these brands”.

He added: “This additional stock, on top of the current inventory we already have in our warehouses, should allow us to respond to most of our customer demand in the coming months until the transition to new sourcing in Q1 2023.”

In countries where Antalis or other KPP Group distribution companies are not directly present, the plans are to continue to make these brands available through a network of distribution partners.

Alistair McAlinden, managing director at Interpath Advisory and joint administrator for Arjowiggins Scotland Limited, said: “We are pleased to have concluded this transaction which safeguards the future of this portfolio of premium fine papers.”
