Ankorstore goes wild for rebranding

Online wholesale marketplace adds rewards programme to help retailers find new suppliers

B2B marketplace Ankorstore has announced its rebranding under the two-word manifesto Rewild Retail to continue connecting independent retailers and brands.

Paris-based Ankorstore yesterday (April 28) revealed the rebrand is “a new way to articulate the heart of its mission: to restore the retail ecosystem and support independent retailers in an increasingly competitive system”.

Founded in 2019 as one of the first online marketplaces that connect brands and creators with shops all over Europe, the company aims to simplify brand distribution, and has five categories – beauty, fashion, grocery, kids, and home and living which includes stationery and gifts.

Ankorstore works with 250,000 retailers and 20,000 brands across Europe, and has also announced the launch of its Rewards Programme, an initiative that increases a retailer’s margin when they buy from multiple brands.

Nicolas D’Audiffret, co-ceo and co-founder, said: “We want to give the retailers the possibility to stay agile and adapt to the market needs, especially in these uncertain times. Usually, discounts are given on volume but we decided to do things differently. Our Reward Programme makes it possible for retailers to get the best margins by buying more brands instead of more volume. Brand discovery and diversity in their product offer is key, so we adapted our business model accordingly and subsequently created a paradigm shift in the world of retail.

“To reflect our new identity, we felt compelled to find a new way to articulate the heart of our mission. We found two words that epitomise our mission and who we are as a company – Rewild Retail. The concept is simple, to restore the natural order and beauty of an ecosystem that is broken so that everyone in it can thrive again.”

Pierre-Louis Lacoste, former retailer and Ankorstore co-founder, added: “We understand our community needs because we were once where they are. We are on a mission to rewild the retail industry with all our retail and e-commerce expertise and passion but we also need the end consumer to go back to the local shops.

“We are not only an online marketplace but want to restore customers’ behaviours that have shifted to a full online approach, forgetting the beauty and importance of local shopping. We want to kick off a global Rewild Retail movement to trigger a mutually beneficial paradigm shift where everyone feels part of it and has its role to play. We want to restore and rebuild, not disrupt.”
