Ling Design is diversifying into Advent calendars for the first time. The Kent-based publisher is debuting with a dozen different Advents calendar designs at the start on 2018, with a collection that spans from the traditional to the cheery. Some include a religious message while others have a Christmas message, with glitter and gold foil finishes included where appropriate. In addition to Advent calendars, a mini Advent calendar card option is also available.

While Advents may be new for Ling they are a product that Sarah La-Plain grew up with. Sarah joined Ling in the summer as charity sector manager, but brought with her a huge experience on the Advent calendar front.

Known as the ‘Advent calendar queen’ Sarah worked closely with her parents in the Caltime advent calendar family joining Woodmansterne when it acquired the company a few years ago. She recently sold calendars and bespoke cards to national accounts including charities before leaving Woodmansterne to join Ling Design a few months ago.

Mini Advent calendar cards also form part of the launch.

Commenting on the publisher’s latest development, Alessandro Arosio, managing director of Ling Design said, “We listen to our customers and have recognised a demand from many retailers for good quality Advent Calendars, so we are really excited to share this range and look forward to receiving feedback from within the industry.”

As part a launch incentive, retailers can buy all 12 designs for the price of 11.

Ling Design managing director Alessandro Arosio says the launch is as a result of feedback from retail customers.

The attraction of Advent calendars as a retail line is not something that has gone unnoticed by several publishers, evidenced by a Best Advent Calendar category being launched in The Calies, UK calendar awards this year, which was won by Roger la Borde for its 3D Winter Critters design.
