The GCA has laid down the challenge for a catchy phrase to promote the sending of greeting cards
Quiz time: name these slogans:
I’m Lovin’ it
Just Do It
Every Little Helps
Vorsprung durch Technik
Because I’m worth it
A great slogan can be as recognisable as the brand itself and the GCA (Greeting Card Association) is spearheading a challenge to come up with for a catchy tagline that best encompass everything there is about the giving of greeting cards.
The quest, which arose from a recent GCA Council meeting to further promote Thinking of You Week, is to create a phrase can be used across the industry – by retailers, designers and publishers – something that sums up the importance of the emotional connection greeting cards make.
“We know that we have some amazingly creative people among our 450+ GCA members and associate members,” says Sharon Little, ceo of the GCA who has sent an email to all members asking them to get involved with the tagline challenge. “We’re sure that between us we can come up with great snappy and catchy taglines that encompasses what greeting cards mean to people.”
The plan is that all submissions will be considered and voted on with a view to the winning entry being shared with everyone to use as part of Thinking of You Week as well as on POS, Twitter, brochures, signoffs, websites and backs of cards.
“Despite the increased use of social media and emails, greeting card sales continue to rise year-on-year, this is still a growing industry. We want to do all we can to promote this even more – and a tagline will help us to do this.”
