Weird and wonderful windows ready for the witching hour

 

Spooktacular displays have broken out all across the country as Halloween nears and greeting card retailers have been getting ready for the witching hour.

And there’s plenty of autumnal delights mixed in among the scary skeletons, plump pumpkins, weird webs, ghosts and ghouls, skulls, black cats, spiders and witches, all ready for Halloween on Thursday, 31 October, as these photos show.

Above: It’s Trick Or Eat time at Stoke Newington’s Earlybird where the indie retailer is taking part in the Halloween trail to get donations for Hackney Foodbank. “Dress up in your spookiest attire, pop in before 6pm on Halloween to pick up sweet treats and bring along donations of non-perishable food,” explained co-owner Heidi Early. “Demand for the food bank is through the roof and this annual trail is a chance to donate vital supplies so no one in our community goes hungry.

Above: The cosy autumnal windows at Taunton’s Rocket And Bird are put into the shade by the yarn bomb crochet creation thanks to co-owner Susie Thomas’ mum Sandy. “She’s done it again!” laughed Susie. “Mum has created another brilliant crocheted yarn bomb creation to bring the wonky bollard back to life just in time for the half term holidays. There is so much to see within this one. Thank you so much Mum for all your hard work, these amazing creations really do make people smile and brighten up the area so much. Thank you also to Dad for helping with the attaching. I am very lucky to have such awesome parents! Sadly, the top bit won’t be available as an actual hat as modelled by me but I did enjoy the moment.”
