UKG’s the top employer

Publisher adds honour to The Henries Best Service Gold award

UK Greetings has proven it’s not just good with customer service, the Dewsbury-based publisher is also a great employer.

Having been crowned with The Henries Gold Award for Best Service To The Independent Retailer title a few days ago, UKG has also now topped the table in the Kirklees Top 100 Companies list.

Claire Rusby, HR director, commented: “We are delighted to be number one! We’re so proud to be part of the Kirklees Top 100 companies, and even more proud that we’re in first place this year!

“It’s amazing for UKG to be recognised in the wider Kirklees business community. Thank you to all our colleagues for your hard work and dedication – you create our success.”

The honour meant UKG, one of the largest employers in Kirklees, has gone one better than last year, jumping up from second place to be crowned the best business in the area on the 2024/25 list.

Run as a joint venture between the University Of Huddersfield, Kirklees Council, and the 3M Buckley Innovation Centre to celebrate and measure business growth across the region, it uses a range of metrics, including turnover, profit, employee numbers and growth, to calculate the Top 100 companies.

The list showcasing the top companies from across the district that have demonstrated exceptional performance and resilience was unveiled last week with Claire attending the event at the John Smith’s Stadium in Huddersfield to collect the trophy, just a couple of days after the publisher’s head of independent sales Matt James picked up the Best Service Gold trophy from Penny Shaw, MD of category sponsor Cardgains.

In the Kirklees Top 100 brochure, the publisher’s entry states: “UK Greetings recognises its environmental and social responsibility and in recent years, has placed increased emphasis on sustainability across its entire business, implementing various initiatives to reduce its environmental impact.

“The company invests in people and is proud to be known for fostering a creative and innovative work environment, employing hundreds of people across various departments, including design, marketing, sales, and production.”
